$1M Settlement for Severe Machinery Accident
A routine workday turned into a life-altering machine accident for our client. While helping a friend install a fence, they used a drill attachment connected to a tractor to dig holes. As they worked on the third hole, the drill struck a hard concrete surface, causing a powerful jolt. The sudden impact threw them off balance, making them sway uncontrollably. When they tried to pull away, their glove got caught in the machine, trapping them and spinning them around. They were violently dragged and slammed against the tractor and fence before collapsing to the ground, critically injured, and losing a significant amount of blood.
The machine accident resulted in severe and permanent injuries. These included fractures of the right tibia and fibula, both bones of the left forearm, the femur in four places, the sternum, and seven ribs. They also suffered multiple deep lacerations. Due to the extent of their injuries, they required several surgeries and received 70 stitches to their head, 30 to their chest, and 13 to their face. In addition to the physical trauma, they endured emotional distress, including symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
A detailed investigation by Adamson Ahdoot’s legal team uncovered serious safety violations in the machinery. The equipment lacked essential safety features, such as a safety cover and cotter pin, which are critical safeguards that could have prevented this tragedy. This played a key role in our client’s injuries.
With the expertise and dedication of our personal injury attorneys, we secured a $1,000,000 full policy settlement. While our client is still on the road to recovery, this compensation will help cover their medical bills, rehabilitation, and ongoing care as they heal from this devastating accident.
