$799K Awarded for a Multi-Vehicle Collision

Our client was the driver of a vehicle traveling northbound on SR-99 in the #3 lane. The car was approaching the intersection of Austin Road in an unincorporated city in San Joaquin County, California. At that time, the defendant driver was operating another vehicle in lane #3 behind another vehicle that was directly behind our client’s vehicle at a high rate of speed. This reckless driving led to a multi vehicle collision.

As our client slowed down for traffic, the defendant failed to yield to the slowed traffic ahead. As a result, they slammed into the rear of the other vehicle in front, which in turn collided with the rear of our client’s vehicle.

The force of the impact pushed our client’s vehicle into the rear of another vehicle in front.

Upon impact, the defendant lost control of the vehicle and collided with the right side of our client’s vehicle. Subsequently, they pushed our client’s vehicle into the vehicle in front of it. The police officer on scene found the defendant at fault for the multi vehicle collision in violation of California Vehicle Code Section VC 22350 for “driving at an unsafe speed.”

As a result of this collision, our client’s vehicle was totaled. As a result of this collision, our client also incurred a loss of use.
