$100k Recovery for Getting Struck by a Vehicle While on a Bicycle

Our client was on a bicycle waiting on the sidewalk for the traffic signal light to turn green at the southeast corner of El Segundo Boulevard near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard in Gardena, California. At that time and place, the defendant was driving a vehicle stopped at the eastbound right turn lane of Crenshaw Boulevard at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard. As the light turned green and our client proceeded to ride the bicycle within the crosswalk, the defendant made a right turn to El Segundo Boulevard, and struck our client’s bike, and as a result, our client fell to the ground landing on their back.

Our client presented to the emergency department at Torrance Memorial Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of the injuries sustained from the motor vehicle collision that occurred earlier in the day. Our client complained of constant and worse pain in his lower back. Our client rated the severity of his pain as 8/10. An X-ray of the lumbar spine was ordered and performed. Following the complete physical examination, the doctor diagnosed our client with a lumbar strain & head injury.
