Toluca Lake Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested
The driver responsible for a hit and run crash in Toluca Lake that took place in December last year was arrested on Thursday, January 7th. The Los Angeles Police Department is the lead investigator in the case. The incident happened on December 27th, near Studio City and Valley Village at about 5:40 p.m. The hit-and-run claimed the life of a female pedestrian, an 85-year-old woman whose body has not yet been identified by the coroner’s office. The perpetrator was identified as a 59-year-old woman named Lisa Lipman, who was arrested at her house in Santa Monica. Surveillance video of the incident helped identify Lipman, who was driving a four-door sedan during the time of the incident. She will be facing trial for the hit-and-run incident in June 2021.
Can You File A Wrongful Death Claim Following a Hit-and-Run Crash?
A wrongful death claim is usually filed after an incident where a person’s death is caused by another party’s actions. Thus, it also applies in car accident situations, including hit-and-run. Of course, there’s a caveat that is entailed in hit-and-run situations, which may differ from normal car accidents. That is, the at-fault driver must already be identified if a claim is to be filed. However, if your at-fault driver has yet to be found, you may have other legal options available at your disposal.
