One Dead and Two Injured after I-5 Single-Vehicle Crash

October 29, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A single-vehicle crash took place on Tuesday, October 20th on Interstate 5, near San Onofre nuclear plant. California Highway Patrol was the first responder at the scene. They received information that the crash occurred at around 5:50 a.m. A 2002 Ford Explorer was overturned multiple times after the car veered off Interstate 5 while heading north. A family of three was occupying the vehicle at the time. The father, a 71-year-old man, was thrown out of the vehicle due to the crash’s impact. He died at the accident scene from his injuries. His child, a 43-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo by ambulance. His wife, who also survived with moderate injuries, was air-lifted to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

Is Air Ambulance Necessary for Car Accident Victims?

Determining the necessity of air ambulance rescue can be difficult since victims usually don’t have a say on rejecting it on arrival, although they can request one if they are still conscious. Yet, regardless of whether consented to an air ambulance rescue or not, you still need to deal with the bills later on. If you did not want an air ambulance and was not in the capacity to reject this, can you dispute the charges? The answer is yes, you can. This is especially true if investigations to the case later disclosed that the air ambulance was not necessary to transport you for treatment of your car accident injuries.
