The Household Relief Grant Program

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors released a grant program earlier this month aimed at relieving some of the financial burden caused by the Eaton and Palisades fires. Affected individuals are now able to apply here.

Los Angeles residents affected by the wildfires may be eligible for financial assistance with expenses not covered by FEMA or insurance.

Applying for the Household Relief Grant

The application period opened on February 26, 2025, and will remain open through March 12, 2025.

Los Angeles homeowners and tenants displaced by the 2025 Eaton and Palisades Wildfires may be eligible if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Their primary residence was destroyed by the wildfire and windstorm events.
  • Their primary residence is uninhabitable due to severe damage from the wildfire and windstorm events.
  • Their household experienced a death related to the wildfire and windstorm events.

Priority will be given to the most impacted households based on need, including insurance status, social and economic vulnerability, loss of life, health conditions, and other risk factors.

Grant Amounts

The amount that affected individuals may be eligible for will depend on the size of the household and its composition:

  • Up to Two Household Members: A household consisting of 2 or fewer members, including individuals living alone or couples without dependents may be eligible for $6,000.
  • At Least Three Household Members: Households with at least three members, where at least one person is a dependent, whether a minor or an adult, may be eligible for $12,000.
  • Multigenerational Household: Households with at least four members, including dependents, whether minors or adults, and consisting of at least three separate generations may be eligible for $18,000.

Only one grant will be given to each address and the application must be submitted online. However, in-person assistance will be available to help applicants complete their application, both in English and Spanish.
