Breast cancer continues to have a profound impact on individuals and families, and we are deeply committed to supporting those affected. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are proud to partner with Curls of Courage, a remarkable organization dedicated to helping women who are battling cancer by providing resources that help them preserve their sense of identity and confidence.

The fight against cancer is an incredibly challenging journey, and the physical, emotional, and psychological toll it takes is immeasurable. For many women undergoing chemotherapy, one of the hardest parts of treatment is the inevitable hair loss. Losing hair during cancer treatment can feel like losing a part of your identity. The emotional impact of this experience can be overwhelming, but Curls of Courage offers an impactful resource to help support confidence and identity.

Curls of Courage Gives Women Battling Cancer a Chance To Keep Their Hair Through the Benefits of Cold Capping

Curls of Courage was founded by three high school students—Emily, Celine, and Lauren—who were inspired to help women who are battling cancer have a solution to keep their hair during chemotherapy. Having experienced the emotional toll of seeing someone they care about undergo cancer treatment, these students understood the importance of feeling like yourself during a time when everything else may feel out of control. They realized that for many women, the loss of hair can be one of the hardest challenges to overcome, and they set out to make a difference by providing support to those in need.

Through their work, Curls of Courage provides cold capping treatment to women undergoing chemotherapy who cannot afford this resource otherwise. Cold capping works by cooling the scalp, which temporarily reduces blood flow to the hair follicles, limiting the amount of chemotherapy drugs that reach the hair. This process significantly reduces hair loss during treatment, allowing women to preserve their hair and maintain a sense of normalcy and self-esteem in the midst of a difficult journey.

While cold capping has proven to be an effective solution for many, it is an additional financial burden for many women. Curls of Courage is passionate about raising funds to help ensure that women who cannot afford cold capping treatments can still have access to this beneficial resource. This support allows women to retain a piece of their identity, during an otherwise uncertain time.

How You Can Help

Curls of Courage has launched its “Hair to Stay” fundraiser, with a goal of providing as many women as possible with the opportunity to benefit from cold capping treatments. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of these women, offering not only a practical solution but also emotional support as they face their cancer treatments. Adamson Ahdoot is proud to match every donation made to Curls of Courage up to $10,000, effectively doubling the impact of your generosity.

Whether you’re able to make a small or large contribution, every donation counts and brings us closer to our goal of supporting more women through their cancer journey. Give here to join us in efforts to empower these women to keep their hair, keep their confidence, and keep fighting.
