Paul Pelosi, Husband of Nancy Pelosi, Arrested for DUI in Napa County
Top congresswoman’s husband charged with two misdemeanor counts
Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was arrested and charged Saturday, May 28 with driving under the influence (DUI) and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher after being involved in a collision.
According to local law enforcement, the 82-year-old Pelosi was crossing State Route 29 in the North Bay when a Jeep traveling northbound collided with him. The CHP said Pelosi drove his 2021 Porsche into the intersection before he was struck. A California Highway Patrol accident report doesn’t identify who was at fault for the accident, however, Pelosi was arrested shortly after authorities were called to the scene.
The driver of the Jeep was not arrested and there were no injuries reported. According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office booking report, Pelosi was released Sunday morning after bail was set for $5,000.
Nancy Pelosi’s spokesperson, Drew Hammill, told CNN “The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast.” Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island to give a commencement speech Sunday at Brown University.

More than 1.8% of adults in the state reported they had been behind the wheel after having too much to drink, which is just below the national average.
By law, drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher are considered alcohol-impaired. Driving with a BAC of 0.08% or higher is a misdemeanor and could lead to jail time, fines, and license revocation.
