Car Plunged 150-Feet into Cliff Near Highway 17
A single-vehicle crash was reported to have taken place on Friday, October 23rd in Santa Clara. California Highway Patrol was one of the first responders at the scene, accompanied by several fire crews. A blue Honda Civic was reported to have plunged into a 150-feet drop after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a cliffside.
The crash happened while the vehicle was traveling on Highway 17 near Idyllwild Road just before 8:00 a.m. Two drivers who were also driving in the same direction witnessed the whole incident. The vehicle was only occupied by one person, the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. One of Highway 17’s lanes was temporarily closed while the investigation of the crash was ongoing.
Are You Supposed to Receive A Death Benefit Payout after Your Loved One Died from A Single-Vehicle Crash?
It depends on their insurance policy. If your loved one died after a single-vehicle crash, a death benefit may be administered if their insurance policy has a personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. Thus, if you’re based in California, which is a no-fault state, and does not make PIP ownership mandatory, it is possible that you won’t be able to claim any death benefit following a single-vehicle crash. That doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to anything from your loved one’s auto insurance.
