$200k Settlement for Driver’s Side Accident
Our client was the restrained operator, with two passengers of a vehicle traveling westbound in lane #1 on Interstate 580 approaching the intersection of US 395 in Reno, Nevada. At that time, the defendant was operating a vehicle directly behind our client’s vehicle. Our client slowed down to the traffic congestion ahead when the defendant failed to yield to the slowing traffic and slammed into the rear of our client’s vehicle.
Upon impact, our client struck his head on the driver’s side door of his vehicle. The police officer on the scene found the defendant at fault for the collision in violation of Nevada Vehicle Code 484B.603 for failing to decrease speed and use due care for the traffic conditions. As a result of this collision, our client’s vehicle sustained extensive vehicle damage.
The paramedics of Remsa Ground Ambulance evaluated our client at the site of the collision. They complained of pain in the anterior head, neck, and lower back. They rated their pain as 6/10. The paramedics applied a C-collar to the neck. After the application of complete safety restraints, the paramedics transported our client to the emergency department of Renown Regional Medical Center without any incident and transferred care to the waiting emergency department staff.
