Ventura Single-Vehicle Crash Killed Driver
On Monday, October 12th, California Highway Patrol (CHP) received information that a single-vehicle crash took place in Ventura. A 40-year-old man was driving on his 2017 Dodge Journey when his vehicle suddenly veered off-road. The Dodge Journey then crashed into a nearby wall. His vehicle was overturned due to the impact. It also went up in flames. The man was rescued from the vehicle by emergency personnel, and although he was transported to the hospital, he eventually died from his severe injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. CHP is still investigating the cause of the single-vehicle crash.
Are Overturned Vehicles More Likely to Cause Injuries?
Yes, they are. Not only that, but they generally end up more fatal than any other type of single-vehicle crashes. Additionally, certain vehicles are more likely to end up in single-vehicle crashes that result in an overturned vehicle. In recent times, these vehicles are light truck types, such as SUV and vans. Manufacturers are aware of this, and some have systems built-in to mitigate injury severity from a rollover crash. However, some manufacturers may choose to not equip vehicles with these precautions and fail to notify customers about it.
Thus, if you were involved in a single-vehicle crash that caused your vehicle to overturn, you should consider checking whether your vehicle was equipped with the necessary system to ensure that you, as the customer, will not be severely injured during an incident. In the event that the manufacturer is liable for your single-vehicle crash injuries, you have the right to pursue a product liability claim against them.
