Two Dead and Seven Injured from Multi-Vehicle Crash in 405
A wrong-way crash between two vehicles in Long Beach led to a multi-vehicle crash involving eight other vehicles on Saturday, October 31st. California Highway Patrol (CHP) was the first responder at the scene. The incident happened on 405 Freeway, at around early morning. Before the incident took place, CHP received a report that a Nissan automobile was traveling in the opposite direction of the lane. Unfortunately, before any preventative measures could’ve been taken, a crash happened shortly after between the Nissan and another vehicle.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver was identified as Kaylee Perez, age 23, while the other vehicle’s driver was found to be Manasseh Marion, age 32. Eight other vehicles also experienced accidents which were caused by the crash. This occurred due to the poor visibility of the crash scene’s surroundings. As a result, seven other people were injured and required hospitalization, with two being severely injured. CHP closed the lanes shortly afterward for several hours.
What Can You Do If You Were A Victim in a Pile-Up Crash?
Just like any other car crash, you can choose to pursue a claim against the at-fault driver. Therein lies the dilemma. In multi-vehicle crashes, it is much harder to establish who the at-fault driver is. It can be even harder if there was no electronic surveillance at the scene of the accident, since the eyewitnesses involved may not be able to corroborate the events surrounding the accident. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible to file a claim if you were a victim in a pile-up crash, though.
