November 30, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A single-vehicle crash was reported to occur on Sunday, November 8th in Stevenson Ranch. Los Angeles County Fire Department was the first responder at the scene. The following day, the victim was identified by Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as a 23-year-old man from Valencia named Jonathan Manuel Dacosta. He was driving around Poe Parkway and Verne Court when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree closeby. The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Dacosta was fatally injured from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Will Auto-Insurance Compensate You If You Were Injured in a Single-Vehicle Crash?

Whether or not your auto-insurance will approve a claim you file after a single-vehicle crash depends on whether your insurance coverage includes personal injury protection coverage. Unfortunately, in California, this is not mandatory coverage for an auto insurance holder. Thus, it is best to take a look at your auto insurance policy for answers. A bit of advice from an attorney would also prove helpful if the fault in your single-vehicle crash is not 100% attributable to you.
