A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday, December 23rd in California Heights. Long Beach Police Department and Long Beach Fire Department were the first responders at the scene. The accident happened on East Wardlow Road at about 10:30 p.m. The pedestrian, which was found to be female of yet to be determined age, was crossing the road outside of the crosswalk when she was hit by a 2007 Mercedes heading east. She was severely injured and was sent to the nearest hospital for treatment where she died on arrival. The driver was found to be a 65-year-old female. Police have ascertained that she was not driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and was not driving while distracted.
