11 People Injured in Gas Station Truck Crash
Eleven people were injured when a pickup truck crashed into a 76 gas station in Los Angeles near the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Woodman Avenue on Tuesday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the truck was towing a concrete pumping trailer when it lost control while entering and hit three cars at the Panorama City station just before 5 p.m.
The ensuing collision knocked over a fuel pump and slightly injured 11 people, including five children.
“Firefighters expect seven people to be taken to hospitals for additional evaluation,” LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said. “Nobody was trapped in the cars and there wasn’t any fire, just a minor gasoline spill.” Four of the people involved declined to be transported and receive further treatment.
Humphrey added that although the spill was minor, it could have been much worse, as a gas station employee was forced to activate an emergency shutoff switch that prevented further spread.
After speaking with the driver, authorities determined there was no evidence of DUI or narcotics involved, but would open an investigation into the cause of the accident.
