The luxury vehicle maker has faced several recalls in previous years
On June 1, the German carmaker issued a global recall for approximately 993,000 vehicles. Faults in the braking system have forced Mercedes-Benz to notify three different series owners of possible brake booster problems.
Concerns about a possible car malfunction have compelled the automaker to press owners to conduct an inspection immediately.
The German Federal Transport Authority (KBA) mentioned in a statement that these inspections apply to cars manufactured between 2004 and 2015. Models from the ML, GL (BR 164), and R-Class luxury MPV series are among the damaged vehicles that require immediate repair (BR 251).
70,000 of the nearly one million vehicles recalled worldwide are in Germany. This initiative will affect approximately 292,000 cars in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz provided additional information in a statement, declaring that “the function of the brake booster could be affected by advanced corrosion in the joint area of the housing.” This step was taken in response to various “analyses of isolated reports.”
In vehicles with significant corrosion, a “particularly strong or hard” braking maneuver could potentially cause mechanical damage to the brake booster. As a result, if the connection between the brake pedal and the braking system is disrupted, the service brake “may stop working.”
The Stuttgart-based company stated that the process will begin with an inspection of “potentially faulty vehicles” in order to replace the parts as soon as possible. Owners are advised not to use the car until the dealer performs the inspection to avoid the risk of an accident.
Second known incident after defective eCall
Mercedes-Benz recalled more than one million vehicles in the United States in 2021 due to a safety defect in the emergency call system. More than 200 models manufactured between 2016 and 2021 were affected by the eCall software in the German brand’s vehicles.
The eCall function alerted emergency services and sent the location in the event of an accident. The solution was done wirelessly, with an update using the vehicle’s mobile data connection.

This news comes just two weeks after the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé became the most expensive vehicle ever sold. The car has broken a world record by more than doubling the price of the previous model.
