Our client was walking down the stairs of the apartment complex where they were renting when the property owner’s negligence resulted in a premises liability injury claim in Whittier, California.
Our client missed the last two stairs due to poor lighting and fell onto the floor. They sustained severe and debilitating injuries as a result of this incident.
As discussed below, the defendant failed to exercise ordinary care on the property. Under California premises liability law, the damages giving rise to the injury claim resulted from the failure to maintain the Whittier apartment complex in a reasonably safe condition. The owner’s negligence resulted in our client’s serious injuries.
Later, paramedics evaluated the claimant at the scene of the fall. The plaintiffs reported pain in their left leg and were transported to the Beverly Hospital Emergency Department without incident. Upon arrival, she received immediate care from the ED staff. Based on medical examination and test results, our client suffered a fracture of the left fibula and required a metal plate with 12 pins. They also required medical attention for facial injuries as a result of the fall. Our client suffered burns to the inside and outside their mouth and broke two and a half teeth.
