Single-Vehicle Car Accident on I-880 Killed Driver
On Friday, September 25th, a single-vehicle car accident occurred half an hour after midnight in Union City. California Highway Patrol was the first responder at the scene. The car, a silver sedan, suddenly lost control on the Interstate 880. The sedan veered into the freeway divider between Alvarado-Niles and Fremont Boulevard. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officers are still investigating what might have caused the accident. The driver was later identified as a 22-year-old man named Marco Gonzalez Peregrina. He was from Hayward. Several lanes of the I-880 freeway were temporarily closed for the investigation.
