Motorcyclist Killed in Ridgecrest Two-Vehicle Collision

November 1, 2020 Alan Ahdoot

A two-vehicle collision was reported to have taken place on Monday, October 19th in Ridgecrest on Highway 395, near Garlock Road. Kern County Sheriff, who is leading the investigation to the case, received information that the crash occurs at around 3:18 p.m. The vehicles involved were found to be a semi-truck and a motorcycle. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, which was the motorcycle driver. This person was identified as a 44-year-old man from Victorville named Cory Lane Hofstetter. It is unknown whether the semi-truck occupants also suffered from any injuries. An investigation of the crash is still ongoing.

Is It Possible to Pursue A Personal Injury Claim if the At-Fault Driver Wasn’t Arrested?

Yes, it is. If you were injured in a car accident where the at-fault driver wasn’t arrested for a criminal charge, you can still file a personal injury claim against their auto insurance provider or against the individual themselves. This is because personal injury cases are treated as civil cases, not criminal cases, and thus whether or not an individual is facing a criminal charge has no bearing on whether they can also be simultaneously processed as a defendant in a civil court.
