A high-speed chase down Sherman Way in the Lake Balboa area led to an unfortunate accident where one man died, and 2 were injured. A man identified as Artur Ignatosian was identified as the high-speed chase victim on Sherman Way near Whitaker Avenue. Los Angeles County coroner’s office released the victim’s name on Sunday, January 3, 2021.
According to witnesses on Sherman Way near Whitaker Avenue, Artur Ignatosian of the North Hills, a 26-year-old male, was the motorist driving at an estimated 80mph when he crashed into another vehicle, leaving him dead on arrival.
The crash took place on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at approximately 7:00 pm. The high-speed chase involving one other vehicle left 2 other victims injured. There are no current reports of the other 2 victims’ recovery. Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. R. Brunson was the Sergeant at the accident scene along with a news photographer.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported that the crash’s high-speed impact was the cause of Artur Ignatosian’s death, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the accident scene.
The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division is still conducting further investigation of the accident.
