Two Dead in San Ramon Two-Vehicle Collision

On Sunday, January 10th, an automobile collision was reported to have taken place in San Ramon. California Highway Patrol is the first responder at the scene. The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. on Highway 680 near Alcosta Boulevard. A Ford Fiesta struck a Volkswagen Jetta when the Volkswagen stopped after hitting the median strip. The impact of the collision caused the Volkswagen to go up in flames. The Volkswagen was occupied by a driver and his two passengers, while the Ford was occupied only by one person, the driver. The Volkswagen driver, later identified as a 20-year-old man named Joseph LeGrande was trapped inside the burning vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene. One of the passengers also shared the same fate. The other survived the crash with severe injuries. He was brought to John Muir Medical Center with the Ford driver, who suffered moderate injuries. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
